Cowabunga, Indeed.
O-M-Glob you guys, it's almost Adventure Time!!!
On August 11th, OhNo!Doom Gallery in Chicago is going to get wicked algebraic!
If you're in Chicago you don't want to miss this. C'mon and grab your friends and swing on by to check out the super amazing art, smash some cookies in your face, maybe do a little science-dancing, and play my favorite game, "Count How Many Hipster Girls Came Dressed Up As Marceline"
In the meantime, don't forget that the current show Septenary is still on! Which means it's not too late for someone to buy J. Shea's "Caligrapher" for me as a belated birthday present...
...it's seriously gorgeous.
OK, enough chatter. BACK TA WERK for me. A certain sweet gentleman is working on finishing up the scan-stuff involved in my Marceline painting, so I should have a nice final image for you of that later tonight! And I'll let you know about the prints of that which will be available at the show.
Painting, cartoons, and beer, here we go.
Happy Tuesday, internet.

done done done
My favorite word is Done Done Done Done
Done, but not properly photographed. This weekend I'm actually going to have one of the guys help me scan it, and then it's off to the framers.
It'll be the first piece I'll have prints of!
Prints, and the original painting, will be available through OhNo!Doom, Chicago in about two weeks. All the details on that stuff later! I gotta go eat pizza!! Bye!

Night three
Having a blast on this, but losing a lot of sleep with it too. But hey! At least it will be done early! And then I can sleep later.

more hags
Last Saturday
was spent sitting around OhNo!Doom with the lovely folk there - stitching up some new Bite Size Baba Yaga Chicken Shacks. So now there's 3 more of those little buggers at the gallery! Thirty bucks of adorable evil.
Speaking of that old lady...
Did a lil' Baba Yaga doodlin' last night, getting ready for some new watercolor paintings.

And Finally
Many thanks to the lovely and talented Amanda Louise Spayd, who took wonderful photos at Saturday's opening of Septenary.
And so, one last Final and Finally Proper post about the piece I created for this show:
This is that very Mab that plaits the manes of horses in the night...(Click HERE for more photos of Mab!)
There's also some great photos of the show opening going around.
You can see my favorites HERE

This is the Hag
"O, then, I see Queen Mab hath been with you.
She is the fairies’ midwife, and she comes
In shape no bigger than an agate-stone
On the fore-finger of an alderman,
Drawn with a team of little atomies
Athwart men's noses as they lie asleep..."
Queen Mab
Wool felt, wire, beads and buttons
Mab hangin' out at the gallery.
"Septenary" opens tonight at OhNo!Doom!
I'll be there, along with a few of the other artists showing. Come grab a beer and check out the fantastic sculptures - I saw the show hanging yesterday and it is really amazing.
Queen Mab is available through the gallery, and she's got some surprise friends with her too...
See you tonight!
xoxo

Long Weekend
In about 9 hours I will rejoin society, but for now, I have another hour or so of stitching to do up here in the treehouse.
Here's another in-progress instagram of my piece for Septenary
And here's a blip!
Septenary is a group of seven sculptors, gathering on the seventh day of the seventh month, to exhibit at OhNo!Doom Gallery. Septenary is the space's second sculptural show, a follow-up to Imaginary Menagerie (the gallery’s sold out sculpture exhibit of 2011). Returning artists Chris Ryniak, Amanda Louise Spayd and Lana Crooks (all currently 2012 Designer Toy Award nominees) are joined by Jake Waldron, Melissa Sue Stanley, J.Shea and Melita “Miss Monster” Curphy. They are seven of the most exciting sculptors in the character scene today using fabric, clay, silicon, wood and wire to bring monsters, creatures and fantastic beings to life.
Stop by this Saturday - Most of the artists will be present. And of course I'll be there, and of course I'll give ya a beer.
In the meantime, it's almost 12:30 am and I still have a team of atomies to make fly.
