Magpies
Magpies
Watercolor and paper on 140 lb cold press Hahnemuehle.
You can see Progress and Detail photos here
And now! more more more.
Spent last night and a few hours of the wee morning watching cartoons, drinking dark beer, and getting the thumbnails and doodles for the next few paintings worked out.
The beginning sketch for a piece that should be about four feet by three feet.
YEP.
And then there's this
One of many beginning sketches for a long-lingering soft-sculpture project that is about to finally happen.
So. Back to work.

what
Mostly quiet times over here.
Spent my whole day Saturday at C2E2. Haven't had a day off in a long time, so it was nice to just putter about and not pick up a phone or a paintbrush or email or do anything.
Most of the day was spent at a booth in artist's alley, reading and people watching and goofing with these guys (click for awesome), although there was a good deal of wandering around and a little bit of shopping.
I picked up some amazing new art
Greg & Fake painting, and a print by Jeremy Bastian.
so good.
Other than that, just painting day job painting day job work work work as usual.
Just about done with this, of course hair takes longer than I ever think it will. I'm pretty dang happy with what I've got so far.
Back at it! There's some very very exciting things happening in the next month. Very exciting! More on that later.

who?
In response to some inquires:
Who The Hell Are These People, Part 1:
Joe Varisco is old and dear. He's also one of the creators / curators / collaborators behind "Chicago IRL", an event planner, a cook, and always. He is also 1/2 of what we call Canned Culture.
Michelle Sciumbato Keller is an artist, a writer, and a bad influence. She's always far away but our toes are always in the same dirt.
Naomi Nowak is an artist and a comic book creator. I also enjoy her photography and blog-ramblings, and have for several years.
More later on the faces you've already seen, and so many more new ones to show you.
